Glendronach 18 Year Old Allardice Pedro Ximenez & Oloroso Single Malt Whisky 700ml

The 18 year old Allardice is named in honour of the distillery founder Mr James Allardice.

This incredible dram may be named after Mr Allardice but being the day after International Women's Day we want to honour another legend of malt whisky, Dr Rachel Barrie.

Dr Barrie has been in the industry for almost three decades working across such esteemed brands as Glenmorangie, Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Bowmore. A member of the Whisky Hall of Fame and Keeper of the Quaich, for the past five years Dr Barrie has been Master Blender for the Glendronach, Benriach and Glenglassaugh distilleries.

It's fairly well accepted that women have a superior palate to men and we can't fault what Dr Barrie has put together with the Glendronach 18 year old.

Aged in 100% Spanish Oloroso casks it's a bright deep golden tawny colour to the eye. The nose brings sweet fudge, brown sugar and candied cherries. The palate is rich, dark and seductive. Remarkable flavours of stewed fruits and all-spice marry together with classic aged Oloroso sherry and toasted walnut bread combined with chocolate orange. The finish is as long and complex as you would expect from an 18 year old highland malt aged in the finest Spanish sherry casks.
