Description
Equinox Orange Tube is a broad-spectrum benzimidazole (BZ) anthelmintic with a wide safety margin for use in horses of all ages (over 6 weeks). It contains oxfendazole, which interferes with the metabolic pathways of intestinal parasites and sterilises worm eggs within 24 hours, helping reduce pasture contamination and reinfection.
Equinox Orange Tube is ideal for use as part of a rotational worming program. It does not treat or control bots or tapeworms.
Active Ingredient:
- Oxfendazole 10 mg/kg dose rate
Treats and Controls Susceptible Parasites:
- Large roundworms (Parascaris equorum) – adult and immature
- Pinworms (Oxyuris equi) – adult and immature
- Hairworms (Trichostrongylus axei) – adult and immature
- Large mouth stomach worms (Habronema microstoma) – adult
- Susceptible small strongyles (cyathostomes)
- Large strongyles (S. edentatus) – tissue stages
Equinox Orange Tube kills immature and adult stages of large strongyles in the intestine and aids in controlling migrating stages of Strongylus vulgaris. This reduces arterial lesions and may lower the risk of colic associated with heavy worm burdens.
Efficacy Details:
A single dose kills up to 88% of migrating fourth-stage Strongylus vulgaris larvae. A second dose given 48 hours later kills up to 96%. This two-dose regime is recommended for horses with heavy worm burdens at the start of a worming program.
Dosage:
Administer orally at 5 mL per 100 kg bodyweight (10 mg/kg oxfendazole).
- Each plunger mark = sufficient paste (2.7 g) for 50 kg bodyweight.
- One syringe treats up to a 600 kg horse.
Directions for Use:
Equinox Orange Tube may be administered directly into the mouth or mixed with feed.
- Set the plunger ring to the correct bodyweight.
- For oral dosing, insert the syringe into the gap between the front and back teeth.
- Depress plunger fully to deposit paste at the back of the tongue.
- Hold the horse’s head up briefly to ensure swallowing.
- Replace cap if paste remains. Do not use the same syringe on multiple horses due to hygiene concerns.
Frequency of Use:
- Treat every 6–8 weeks for ongoing worm control.
- Foals should receive their first dose at 6–8 weeks of age.
- All horses, especially mares, foals and yearlings, should be part of a regular parasite control program.
- Consult your veterinarian for a program suited to your property conditions.
Precautions:
Not recommended for foals under 6 weeks of age.
Availability:
Also available as a single tube (see separate listing).
