Zonzo Estate Vintage Sparkling 2017 750ml

Zonzo Estate is a much-loved Yarra Valley destination, a winery and Italian restaurant set among the vines under head winemaker Caroline Mooney. This is the estate's flagship vintage sparkling, made in the traditional method and rested on lees for around five years before disgorging, then finished with a very low dosage in a crisp, dry Extra Brut style. The extended time on lees shows in the glass, with a fine, persistent bead and aromas of lemon curd, almond and orange blossom lifted by hints of honey and gentle bready complexity. The palate is tight and fresh, pairing perfume of lemon and summer berries with biscuity, savoury depth and a crisp green-apple acidity that carries a clean, bright finish. A wonderful aperitif, and a natural match for freshly shucked oysters or other briny seafood. Serve well chilled in a flute or a tulip glass. Vintages may vary.
