The Nikon AF DC-NIKKOR 105mm f/2D is a short telephoto prime lens designed for Nikon F-mount cameras, optimised for FX (full-frame) format but fully compatible with DX (APS-C) bodies where it delivers a 157.5mm equivalent focal length. Its optical construction comprises 6 elements in 6 groups, and it features a 9-blade rounded diaphragm that renders out-of-focus areas with smooth, natural-looking bokeh. The fast f/2 maximum aperture excels in low-light conditions and provides exceptional depth-of-field control, while Nikon's Super Integrated Coating is applied to individual elements to suppress flare, ghosting, and internal reflections for high contrast and accurate colour rendition even in challenging lighting. What truly sets this lens apart is its exclusive Defocus Image Control (DC) system — one of only two Nikon lenses to feature this technology. By rotating the dedicated DC ring, photographers can independently control the degree and placement of soft focus in either the foreground or background of a composition, making subjects stand out with beautifully blurred surroundings.
