EQUIMEC Tape (previously known as Equimec Plus Tape) combines ivermectin and praziquantel to provide complete protection against all major equine parasites, including potentially life-threatening tapeworms.

Active Ingredients:

  • 77.5 g/kg Praziquantel
  • 15.5 g/kg Ivermectin

Product Benefits:

  • Broad-spectrum activity against roundworms, tapeworms and bots.
  • Controls all important internal equine parasites.
  • Convenient graduated trigger applicator.
  • Safe to use at any age and at any stage of pregnancy.
  • Aniseed flavoured for improved acceptance.
  • Sticky gel formulation adheres to the horse’s mouth and is easily swallowed.
  • Wide safety margin.
  • Low dose: 1.29 g per 100 kg bodyweight.

Treats and Controls:

  • Tapeworms
  • Large Strongyles
  • Small Strongyles (including benzimidazole-resistant strains)
  • Pinworms
  • Ascarids
  • Hairworms
  • Large-Mouth Stomach Worms
  • Neck Threadworms
  • Bots
  • Lungworms
  • Intestinal Threadworms
  • Skin lesions caused by Habronema and Draschia spp. cutaneous larvae (summer sores)
  • Onchocerca spp. microfilariae (cutaneous onchocerciasis)

EQUIMEC Tape has a wide margin of safety at the recommended dose and may be used in horses of all ages. Mares may be treated at any stage of pregnancy, and stallions may be treated without affecting fertility.

Dose Rate:

1.29 g (1 mark on the plunger) per 100 kg bodyweight, given orally.

One syringe treats a 600 kg horse. Each weight marking on the plunger delivers 1.29 g of paste, sufficient for 100 kg bodyweight.

Suggested Parasite Control Program:

Treat all horses due for treatment on the property at the same time.

  • Foals: Treat initially at 6–8 weeks of age, then continue routine treatments.
  • Young horses, brood mares, yearlings and horses with high reinfection risk: Treat every 6–8 weeks.
  • Horses lightly stocked in large paddocks: Treat every 10–12 weeks.

All horses should be included in a regular parasite control program. Consult your veterinarian for a program suited to your property and management conditions.
