Privacy

We track prices, not people. This page says plainly what the site collects, what it does with it, and what it never does. We aim to handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Browsing

Reading this site doesn't require an account. We set one first-party cookie (sd_s, a random identifier, kept for 13 months) so that your visits count as one visitor and the site can notice which categories a browser keeps coming back to. It identifies a browser, not a person — no name or email is attached to it unless you sign in or subscribe. We also measure traffic with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless, and Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies. Our servers keep ordinary request logs (page requested, rough region, browser type) to run and defend the site.

Page-view events older than about three months are removed from the live database and kept in a private archive; the statistics we work with day to day are aggregates like "how many people read this page".

Price alerts

If you subscribe to alerts we store your email address for exactly that purpose. Every subscription is double opt-in, every email carries an unsubscribe link, and if a link ever fails you can reply to any alert and we'll remove you by hand. We don't rent, sell or share the list.

Accounts

Signing in with Google shares what Google's consent screen says it shares: your email address, your name and your profile picture, plus the technical tokens that keep the session working. Signing in with an emailed code gives us just the email address. Either way it's used to run your account — alerts you've set, that's it.

Outbound links

Buy links take you to the store's own site. Some are affiliate links (see how we work); the affiliate network may set cookies on its own domains when you click through. What happens on a store's site is governed by that store's privacy policy, not this one.

What we never do

We don't sell or trade personal information, we don't run ad networks on the site, and we don't buy data about you from anyone.

Questions and requests

To see, correct or delete what we hold about you — which for almost everyone is either nothing or one email address — write to deals@mail.sweetdeals.com.au.
