Michter's Distillery US 1 Bourbon Whiskey 700ml

Michter's US 1 Bourbon draws on a heritage that reaches back to what is often called America's first whiskey company. This small batch expression is bottled from a maximum of twenty barrels at a time, a deliberately tight approach that leaves no room to blend away a lesser cask and demands that every barrel earns its place. Distilled from a mash built on high quality American corn and matured in fire-charred, new American white oak, it reflects the mellow, earthy character of Kentucky's Bluegrass tradition.

In the glass it shows a warm amber colour. The nose opens with rich caramel and soft vanilla, layered with ripe stone fruit and a gentle smoky depth. On the palate those sweeter notes carry through alongside brown sugar and toasted oak, with a touch of cedar and barrel char adding structure. The finish is long and lingering, drying gently towards oak and a whisper of spice.

Nuanced and approachable, this is a bourbon that rewards unhurried sipping. Enjoy it neat or over a single large cube of ice to let the caramel and oak open up, or use it as a confident base for a classic Old Fashioned or Whiskey Sour.
