The Glenturret 10 Year Old Peat Smoked Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

The Glenturret sits near Crieff in Perthshire and has a longer relationship with peat than its Highland address suggests. Distillery records from the early 1800s show peat being cut from the mosses around its water source, and this 10 year old is the modern nod to that history, made entirely from peated spirit.

Maturation runs across first fill and refill casks in both American and European oak, which gives the smoke something sweet and dried to lean on. The nose opens with smouldering peat over vanilla, dates and figs, with citrus oils and a light touch of clove and cardamom behind. The palate is richly honeyed, the smoke turning towards barbecued stone fruit with sea salt, cereal grain and heather.

It finishes warm and full, embers and a saline breeze lingering well after the glass is down. A Highland malt for peat drinkers who still want fruit and sweetness in the mix.
