Hinch Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey 700ml

Hinch Distillery works out of the drumlin country of County Down, near Ballynahinch, in a part of Ireland that supported a string of working distilleries through the 18th and 19th centuries. This peated single malt is the smoky end of the range, triple distilled in the Irish tradition and matured in bourbon casks.

Peat is not a common thread in Irish whiskey, which makes this bottling a genuine point of difference. Aromas of sweet tar, woodsmoke and malt lead the way, backed by dried fruit and a hint of liquorice. The palate carries that smoke through with raisin and sultana sweetness, citrus zest and a soft toffee note underneath.

The finish is long and warming with a peppery edge, smoke drifting off slowly against oak spice. One for drinkers who enjoy Islay character but want the softer, triple distilled Irish frame around it.
