Wynns Coonawarra Estate's Single Vineyard series shines a light on individual sites across its terra rossa holdings, choosing the standout vineyard each year. This release comes from the O'Deas vineyard to the north of the winery, a parcel of dark reddish-brown soil over limestone on land once farmed by the O'Deas family, planted with cuttings from Wynns' prized Childs vineyard. It is pure, single-site Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose leads with red and black cherry lifted by black tea and a classic Coonawarra mint note, while the palate unfolds with plum, tobacco leaf and cassis. Intense and focused, it finishes long and fine, framed by the poised, gently grippy tannins that mark good Coonawarra cabernet. Cellar it for the medium term or enjoy now alongside roast lamb, aged cheddar or a rare porterhouse. Serve at cool room temperature, and decant if drinking young. Vintages may vary.
