Ole Smoky built its name on moonshine out of Gatlinburg in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains, and its flavoured whiskey range takes the same unapologetically indulgent approach. Peanut Butter Whiskey is the pick of the line-up and a firm favourite behind the bar.

The nose is pure roasted peanut and peanut butter fudge, backed by caramel and a hint of vanilla. The palate is velvety and rich, with creamy peanut butter leading, then toffee and sweet vanilla folding in over a light whiskey warmth that keeps the sweetness in check.

The finish is medium in length, leaving peanut, caramel and a soft whiskey spice behind. Best served ice cold as a shot, poured over ice, or mixed into dessert-style cocktails. A splash in coffee or over vanilla ice cream is well worth trying.
